WHO DAT?

 

Hey! My name is Patrick Wilk. I first began using cologne when I was 10 years old. Through the decades, I came across only a few that I enjoyed using. Little did I know the fragrance industry's dependence on synthetic ingredients and animal testing.

After leaving my job as a Project Manager doing corporate sustainability auditing and consulting, I went on a quest to find personal fragrance that does NOT require synthetic ingredients and avoids animal testing. As if cologne/perfume shopping isn't overwhelming enough!

After finding many "all-natural" options, to my surprise, they almost all had synthetic ingredients, such as additives.

I then decided to attempt creating a solution founded on transparency. In January 2025, I first began blending essential oils. In March 2025, the name BOULDER ESSENCE came to me in a dream so I decided to create this small business specializing in handcrafted perfumes. Better yet, BOULDER ESSENCE perfumes are gender-neutral, vegan, cruelty-free (no animal testing), and are truly all-natural.

As a full-time Graduate Student studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I am researching the impacts of implementing scent throughout various therapy modalities, including scent association and aromatherapy.

I also volunteer doing wildlife rehabilitation and I seek out additional ways to help with wildlife conservation. So the ingredients I use have been carefully selected from only a few suppliers that have environmental and ethical considerations that align with where and how they source the ingredients. I then use these ingredients to handcraft these perfumes in beautiful Boulder, Colorado.
